Hi,
I’m currently doing an extended water/dry fast and I’m on day 8. Thinking about breaking on Saturday and then go to a weekly dry fast routine that lasts from Tuesday 10pm till Thursday 10am.
I’m still quite chubby and want to lose weight, am an experienced water faster and recently gotten into dry fasting. I’ve tried ADF but it’s not really my cup of tee so I thought one HDF per week would be more my thing.
the reason why I don’t want to do extended fasts often is that I’m a blood and plasma donor and while I can only donate blood every 4 months, plasma can be every two weeks. I’m on call on Mondays and Tuesdays so it would always be 5 to 6 days after healthy refeeding and enough water intake.
that way I think I could do both, donate and lose weight.
Of course I don’t donate during extended fasts and only after a lengthy refeeding time (I usually take 1/3 to 1/2 of my fasting time to refeed).
Do you think that’s a good plan?
This is essentially what I’ve been doing for a few weeks. But with a 48 hour soft dry fast.
Generally once refeeding is done I’ve lost anywhere from 0.6-1Kg. (Drop about 3Kg during the two days, but about 2Kg comes is water.)
For me it’s about the same as a 3 day water fast in terms of results. Which for two day’s I’m pretty happy with.
Diet rest of the week is basically low PUFA (>10g) & high saturated high. Around 2500-3000 calories a day. With 2 sessions of weight lifting throw in on the fed days.
(First time I tried it, I had a awful headache. Ended up getting some caffeine tablets to take while fasting)
I think that is a solid strategy, it’s all about the weekly balance of calories in vs calories out. And a full day of dry fast is a great bump to calories out. Just eat as clean as you can the rest of the week . Dry fasting is hard , I do it on days that will not be stressful
