One Long Dry Fast vs Drinking Once Everyday

I’d like to try a 3 day dry fast but I’m worried about hurting my kidneys. Would I achieve the same, if not similar result to a 3 day dry fast if I just drank one glass of water every 24 hours? I.e., once the clock hits midnight, I drink a glass of water and repeat until the next day, etc.

Basically intermittant dry fasting, but you only break the fast with water.

Answer

If you are a healthy, moderately young individual. A 3-day dry fast should not hurt your kidneys. Dry fasters believe that anything under 5 days is not very worrisome, unless you have kidney disease or other contraindications. In that case, go slow, try 36hrs/week instead.

Answer

It wouldn’t be “the same” because it wouldn’t be dry. Very basic.

This whole sub is based on the premise that dry fast is different than water fast… otherwise there would be no one posting here.

How can you expect that, on a sub dedicated to DF, people will tell you that drinking during a fast doesn’t change anything?

Answer

Do whatever makes you feel good about / during your fast. Whoever tells you something will be broken because you had some water, coffee or whatever is just an extremist. Enjoy whatever you do, especially stuff which helps your body.
