One week into my first water fast and frustrated because I haven't lost any weight

I’m one week into a water fast that, at the moment, I plan on going as long as I can. I’m taking a magnesium supplement, a multivitamin, a B-vitamin, my regular prescribed meds (adderall, lexapro, doxepin, xanax), the occasional tylenol, and snake juice (1/2 teaspoon Pink salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon potassium chloride no salt). I also just got my gallon hydromate jug, so I’m making sure to drink plenty of water. For example, yesterday, I had a total of 5 liters. I decided I didn’t like drinking two liters of snake juice like the recipe said, so today I just mixed it all into 500 mL and chugged it to get it over with.

!Warning! Body fluids issue discussion, so skip if you’re sensitive to that:

I’ve been having really, really bad diarrhea for the past few days. Like, it’s ridiculous. Like every 10 minutes ridiculous. I haven’t eaten in a week, wtf is still in my body that’s coming out? Am I allowed to take some immodium? I’ve also been having to pee like every 15 minutes too which is also a bit inconvenient, but I guess that’s what happens when you drink a lot of water. Plus, I can’t get the smell of ammonia out of my nose which I guess means I’m finally in ketosis- I’ve noticed before when I’ve done just straight keto that it took me longer to go into ketosis than normal people. It usually takes me 5-6 days to be in actual ketosis.

I’m also ridiculously tired all the time. How long into your water fast dod it take you to get your energy back and not be sleepy all the time?

The most disappointing thing is that I’m one week in and the scale has not moved. I’m 5’2” and 164 lbs. I’m super, super disappointed. Wtf is wrong? I weigh myself the same time everyday. I don’t have menstrual cycles anymore thanks to my nexplanon, so it isn’t that. Anyone else have this issue? Like, as far as physics, it’s literally impossible for me not to be losing something since there’s no calories going in, so why hasn’t the scale moved?

Answer

First of all, I’m pretty sure you’re drinmking too much water.

Second, I can’t imagine fasting being good for you with the meds you’re on. I wouldn’t do the fasting; rather just diet or do One Meal a Day.

Third, scales lie. In one week, the only thing your scales are telling you, is your hydration level. At your weight, assuming an average level of activity, five days of fasting will lose you maybe 1-1.5kg of body fat at most.

Fasting is not magic; you burn body fat equal to the amount of energy that your body burns. That’s all.

5-6 days for keto to occur is weird as well. You sure you don’t have calories sneaking in somehow? You drinking something with artificial sweetener possibly? Chewing gum or something? This is weird. It took me 40 hours last extended fast to get to ketosis and that’s after eating like an absolute crazy man for a few days.

This really sounds unhealthy. You should consider to stop. (Too much water is posinenes) ask for advise from a medical expert. Your body and health has so much more worth than lossing some pounds! Please seek some advise from your family dokter!

Answer

please break your fast and stop drinking this much water, your body is clearly telling you to stop. have some bone broth or a small steak. i know for a fact that psyche meds, mainly sertralin, made me gain weight and made it very hard for me to lose it. definitely check in with your doctor.
