I really don’t care about weight loss since I don’t have much to loose. Should I still pursue the path of intermittent fasting ? Can somebody more experienced in that field give me a insight about other proven benefits and are they even worth it ?
The biggest one for me is the ability to prevent type 2 diabetes. When you fast, your pancreas take rest by not providing insulin. You need to make sure you don’t break your fast with only carbs as that spikes your insulin. For me that’s huge as type 2 diabetes has run in my family for at least 2 generations
one simple world apoptosis/autophagy :
“During prolonged fasting, the body survives by eliminating unnecessary cells via apoptosis, the process of programmed cell death. These cells will be replaced when food becomes available. This regeneration process, the most extensive since birth, is a powerful feature of prolonged fasting.” tldr;your body recycles the cells in your body while in a fasted state
For me, reduced anxiety (lower blood sugar), heart rate, and feeling a lot more active and less lethargic. I’m more productive and can concentrate more easily at work - this is huge for me as I have ADHD. Although I started for the weight loss, these have actually been the benefits I noticed first and with the greatest effect on my life.
