Overcoming Hunger

I’ve been attempting 16/8 fasting for well over a year now but I am unable to do it continuously. My problem is that every now and then, like a few times a week, I’ll get hungry during my fasting window and it is not a normal hungry that I can just power through, it’s an instantaneous, bent over nauseated, I’m going to vomit violently if I do not consume something right this moment. I’ve never even attempted to just ride this hunger through because it feels like the middle of a terrible stomach flu and I just want it to stop immediately. I’ve tried explaining this to my husband and he just looks at me like I’m crazy because apparently he’s never experienced this, I’ve literally had this happen throughout my whole life so I know it is not fasting related. Also it is not related to my cycle.

Has anyone else ever experienced hunger like this? How have you/ if you, power through it?

Even if you haven’t, what is your best advice to power through hunger without breaking fast? I would really like to be able to move to omad but I dont feel like that is possible at this point . Thank you all in advance.

I would speak to a doctor about that. A friend of mine has problems with hypoglycemia and that sounds a lot like her symptoms. It’s not diabetes, she’s just dealt with it since she was young. She went to her doctor because she felt sick almost every morning and would literally throw up if she’d skipped dinner or had eaten dinner really early. I’m not saying that’s what going on but it might be worth talking to your doctor just to make sure.

Answer

Are you regularly consuming sugar, added sugar, or alcohol? I know anytime after I’ve had a dessert or a night of drinking I wake up feeling hungry and weak. Regularly consuming sugar makes it all but impossible for me to fast, personally.
