Overdid re-feed

I did a 60 something hour fast and ate a lot today.

-two patty cheeseburger from 5 guys with veggies, ketchup, and Mayo

-cauliflower/potato dish (a bit spicy)

-spinach and cheese (a bit spicy)

-creamy chicken with some heavy cream

-a few nuts

-a glass of milk

My stomach hurts so bad. This won’t happen again but I was wondering if you mind sharing what you eat when you re-feed. I’m doing 4-5 days next and I need help on what to eat.

Has anyone had bad stomach pain when re-feeding badly before? I hope I didn’t mess up my body. It did take hours for my stomach to hurt so I’m not sure which one did it.

I haven’t fasted more than 48, but I did steamed broccoli, some avocado, sauerkraut & salmon. It went pretty good, but I feel could have been better. I think next time I’m going to use bone broth-wait. kraut + veggies - wait. and then protein an hour or two later.

I break my fast with hot cup of miso soup, just sip it slowly for the first hour. It warms up my tummy nicely and prepares it for more complex food: After that, I eat a little pickled cabbage/kimchi/German purple cabbage or a small salad I make out of sesame oil, avocado, some greens and a little salt and lemon juice. I sometimes add some salted nuts. I then eat a fuller meal later and use a portion control plate in following sizes: Protein - one palm, veggies - two palms, Carbs - one palm/usually a little less. Usually use chicken breast or thighs or baked salmon with baked/roasted veggies.

I reduced the amount of dairy I consume because I noticed it makes me feel gassy and bloated on eating days. I recall some video talking about how consuming milk/heavy cream may not be great when breaking a fast. Maybe if you start light and then build up to dairy/heavier foods, it may help!

Hey pls check activated charcoal & Chanca Piedra if your refeed is going south. Hopefully you’ll learn to take it easier in the future, but I’ve been there too, self control goes out the window when your body is in high stress mode. The activated charcoal can be a life saver though, & something to keep around for fasters. Research about it.

I break a fast with broth, or miso soup, or an organic pea-protein shake, or celeri sticks, then start prepping a meal for 2h - 3h later, usually mashed cauliflower with some lean protein. That’s it. The one time I broke a fast with junk food, my kidneys felt like they were being shredded, so never again.

jesus were you near a toilet this would have been incredibly painful cramps and maybe violent diarrhea.

Just look at the food your body is resting and bang you basically assaulting it with this amount of food.

BTW a lot of ppl after fasting find they have problems digesting dairy, look at what you had, (cheese) burger, spinach and (cheese), chicken with (cream), glass of (milk), humans tend to have problems with milk and derivatives (when you were eating those food did you feel like a lot of mucous in your throat), do you think you may need to address your relationship with food.

Fasting in the end is only a tool if you go back to your old ways you are gonna negate the benefits of it, that is why I think fasting should be part of a total reassessment of our diet.

Then again this is a good lesson when you do your next fast you will know what not to do,

If you can try very very light fare on your first day after a fast like veg broth, coconut water, miso soup then on the second day a medium size meal, then you can go back to eating properly on the 3rd day.
