F40, just began IF for the first time a few days ago, doing 16:8 with a calorie deficit. CW230, GW180.
It’s surprisingly easy to avoid eating in the daytime and I feel super satisfied with my meals when I do eat. BUT I’ve noticed as my eating window approaches closing time, my mind hears “LAST CALL!” and I eat more, even if I’m not hungry, due to the fear of being caught hungry too early the next day. Last night I did this and went 200cal over my goal.
I’m drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy amount of all macros. Any advice? Does this go away over time?
For me it comes down to making a plan and sticking to it. I plan all my meals ahead of time and that’s all I eat, no snacks in between meals or after my last meal, even if it’s inside my eating window. If I didn’t stick to my plan I would easily gain weight doing IF (unfortunately I know this from firsthand experience). I also plan my last meal to be right at the very end of my eating window so as soon as I’m done eating dinner, my eating window closes and I’m fasting.
Yes it will go away, but I believe it has to go away willingly if it makes sense? You have to tell yourself that you will not be hungry even if you eat less. And the first day may be hard, the second day may be even harder but once you get the first few days done, it will only get easier from there. You’ll notice how much less you’re eating and you won’t get hungry at fasting times, because your body get’s used to not having food for 16 hours.
English is not my first language so sorry for the mistakes.
