I literally started with this goofy infographic.

But yes, if you’re not used to exercise there’s going to be some adjustment period. Just don’t go so hard that you hurt yourself, but some soreness is to be expected at the start. A dull soreness is fine, but any sharp pain means something is wrong and should be stopped.

Unfortunately DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) is a natural part of working out, especially when you are new. I promise it isn’t as bad when you progress. My DOMS was only bad during the first week.

I mean you can just go on brisk walks.

Exercises will always lead to soreness as your muscle isn’t used to it. Do stretches before and after to reduce the shock to the muscles and reduce soreness

For me, i found when i started walking regularly and then doing HiIT, i didnt feel sore as much the next day and wasnt struggling through the routine either

Answer

You need to start with bodyweight exercises and progress from there. Muscle soreness will happen no matter what, it’s a natural byproduct of exercise. But as you get stronger, the soreness will steadily decrease. The soreness doesn’t last forever and it’s a sign you are getting stronger!

I personally love tabata style workouts. They are excellent starting points and are arguably some of most effective workouts you can do. There are a lot of four minute bodyweight tabata workouts on youtube that will get you started. Four minutes doesn’t sound like a lot but they are very effective and excellent for a baseline.

I posted as a comment, but then realized you might not see it.

What you are experiencing is delayed onset muscle soreness. It generally peaks at 48 hours… Sorry about that.

Keep in mind that while you are currently motivated, working out too hard could kill that motivation. The more important thing is dedication.

You will be sore, moving will make you less sore. It’s better to do small things consistently. Just go easy. You will get better over time.
