Post Chemo/Steroids/Immunotherapy, will IF work for me? Anyone with this experience?

Gained 25 lbs over past six months of cancer treatment (finished treatment in early January). Oh, yes, and I’m in remission from Follicular Lymphoma (treated in 2021) and Triple Negative Breast Cancer (treated in 2018). I just wonder if IF will work for someone whose body has been through this.

I don’t believe you should listen to anyone on Reddit about dieting post chemo and steroids. An MD and RD are the way to go for advice. However, is the weight gain truly fat gain or did the steroids make you pack on fluid lbs?

Answer

I just finished chemo a week ago. I started IF before I was finished. My dr said to make sure I was getting enough fluids, but otherwise ok. I was only doing it 4-5 days a week (16:8) because I couldn’t bear the thought of fasting on chemo days or the day after. Steroids can make you ravenous. Now that it’s over I’m doing it everyday.

I think it’s working because my pants fit better. Honestly though you should check with your dr first. That way you know you’re good to start.
