I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for three weeks, and I’m actually doing really well. Last night I was put on prednisone for some foot issues I’m having, but I have to take the dose before breakfast. Has anyone taken prednisone while doing intermittent fasting, has it really been that much of an issue to keep fasting while taking the medication?
Very similar to my situation, though different physical issue. Main side effect I experienced was a huge and surprising uptick in sugar and carb cravings on day two of taking Prednisone. Apparently one of many of Prednisone’s side effects is to cause insulin to go up so I’m guessing that’s where the cravings came from. Suddenly I was at the mercy of those wild cravings. And yep I succumbed at the same time feeling distraught. I too had been having success with IF and was within a few pounds of GW. Coincidentally, a poster here in this IF thread shared info about Dr. Fung’s fat fast, from his blog. The fat fast was something he came up with to help a patient with different health issues and needing to make a bridge to being able to fast. I’m eternally grateful to that poster! That same day I went out and bought bacon and several other high-fat items, then, as soon as I got home, around 11 am, partook of my high-fat haul. Normally I do OMAD and was not happy I clearly wasn’t going to be doing OMAD that day, but at least I was able to resist fixing huge amounts of pasta and procuring candy and cookies. That and subsequent nights at dinner I added small amounts of the newly-purchased high-fat items to my usual dinner (two or three veggies, meat; along those lines). For the next couple of days I ate a high-fat item around 11:30. It wasn’t my usual OMAD but at least 17:7, but it kept me from going out midday to buy impulse candy or cookies. I’ll see if I can find the post with content about Dr. Fung’s fat fast. Here’s the link to the blog article: https://blog.thefastingmethod.com/what-is-fat-fasting-and-when-should-you-do-it/
