Probiotics/ healthy bacteria in yogurt

Does probiotics you consume from yogurt make it to the small intestines? If so, how does it survive in the stomach acids?

I have most of the times seen probiotic supplements with types of coating to prevent the stomach acid from breaking down the capsules so the latter will be fully absorbed in the small intestine.

Do correct me if I’m wrong.

Answer

If you consume probiotic foods with carbohydrates that have fibre theyll make it to the large intestine. You don’t want bacteria sitting in the small intestine, atleast not in the long term, that’s SIBO which is more complex for most to understand and I wouldn’t worry unless you need to fix up your digestion.

Answer

Some probiotics are more resistant to stomach acid than others but it seems milk can help get it through the stomach acid. Here’s a link with some useful info.

Answer

It’s honestly tricky. I’m definitely not a doctor so this is just my opinion. I think eventually probiotics will be a HUGE thing but right now in my opinion 98% of people probably waste their money on them due to the probiotics not reaching the critical area.
