I recently completed my first two, long dry fasts.
I did a dry fast of 9 days under the supervision of Dr. Filonov, rested for 9 days, and then followed up with a 10-day dry fast.
I’m doing it to heal a shoulder injury.
I was later told that if you go 9+ days, you should wait at least another 14 days before going into another 9+ day dry fast. I didn’t do this because I was so set on healing my injury.
My fast finished this morning, so I can’t say if my shoulder is healed yet, as most healing takes place during the refeed.
I would definitely say to not combine long fasts so close together. I should’ve waited at least 2-3 weeks, as it was quite taxing on the body, but I pushed through anyways. It was interesting on day 10, as I didn’t feel like I was healing that much more the longer I went on, as if I were reaching a point of diminishing returns. Or, it could be the case that I just didn’t notice the amount of healing.
Overall, I’m already looking forward to doing another one in probably 2-3 months. I need a break after combing such long fasts so close together. Not resting enough made the second fast a lot more difficult, as I should’ve done a longer refeed first.
