Answer

I’m on the Mediterranean diet and love raisins. They are quite healthy but they are also loaded with a lot natural sugars and the calories in raisins add up very quickly. Still better than eating garbage.

Answer

Advantage of eating dried fruit is that it’s sweeter-tasting, so you can add it to foods like oatmeal to make it tastier.

Disadvantage is that it is incredibly easy to consume an unhealthy amount of fructose and other sugar. Because it is less filling and has smaller volume. If you just eat handfuls of raisins, that’s like eating a bunch of big bags of grapes.

Sugar from fruit isn’t nearly as harmful to your metabolic health as table sugar, since it is paired with fiber, vitamin C, and blood sugar regulating polyphenols, but it can still be overdone.

Answer

Make sure to check the ingredients, some dried fruits get sugar added. Less water means less volume so dried fruits are less filling and easier to overeat. Other than those concerns dried fruits offer pretty much all the same benefits as fresh fruits and are great to add a little flavor and texture to things like salads, hot cereals, or casseroles.
