Protein Absorption and OMAD

Hello! I’ve read that there’s a limit to how much protein the body can absorb in a given window … generally something like 20 to 30 grams in a meal (unsure of what this translates to in terms of a window of time).

I know the goal for OMAD is often to consume your regular daily nutrition in a single sitting (or at least close to it with a deficit), or perhaps within a single hour.

Am I wrong in concluding that following an OMAD protocol would result in only absorbing roughly 30g of protein per day? Even if one’s meal was carnivorous, or otherwise very protein-heavy?

Answer

There is a rate limitation around 10g an hour, so you can generally do 240g per day. Not much is lost in urine.

There are many variables but we are not limited.

Answer

The difference is minimal. There were multiple studies referenced in the book Bigger Leaner Stronger. There’s virtual no difference in lean muscle mass growth in those who got all their protein in one sitting and those who spread it out.
