I’ve posted previously, I work in a grocery store bakery. I’ve been doing my best not to snack on the food. I’m not snacking anymore because it looks good and I want to taste. I’m eating it cause I’m so hungry. I’m so hungry near the end of the day and cant stop thinking about food. I make it almost to the end of my shift but fail, I’m so disappointed in myself. Are there any tips or advice for pushing through the hunger?
I’d like to suggest a new job.
I don’t know how I personally could deal with being in a bakery all day…it would take a will of iron which I do not currently possess.
I hope someone else can help you. Really difficult problem.
Honestly, the mirror
And also seeing the world as a glutinous mess..
We don’t need food at the levels we currently survive at..
Also try bring window earlier
I do 6pm -10am
And sleep through most if it.
Black coffee is shit, I have to agree.
What is your fasting/eating window?
If you are that hungry, maybe you need to end your fast sooner or change the time that you start/end it. Bring something healthy to work that you can eat so you don’t eat bakery goods.
Mind over matter! I know it’s cliché but you can do anything you put your mind to. I never thought I’d finish a 21 day fast but I did and was tempted along the way. Office ordered pizza. Family had taco night. I wanted so badly to just chew the food and spit it out but I just slammed some water and tried to put my mind on something else.
Change your eating window to allow a meal during your shift. Drink lots of water.
Or also adopt a diet that keeps you from the foods you enjoy. I worked at a donut shop while low-carb and after the initial struggle, it was fine, and I did find one soup I could have. Limiting my options helped.
Or learning about how bad most bakery stuff is for us. Refined wheat and sugar compared to whole grains and like, real, Italian wheat. I’m sure there’s documentaries or books on it. You’ll have a little crisis..
Also knowing the calories in one donut hole…
I’ll be honest, your job isn’t helping you at all. You have to be away from food and food smell. You could try changing jobs, but I feel like that’s too big a thing to do just for intermittent fasting.
I worked in restaurants for years, and Covid protocols helped me stop snacking! Hard to mindlessly shove onion rings in your face with a mask on.
How many hours are you fasting? Are you tracking calories at all? I don’t think finding a new job is the answer you’re looking for, that is unless you don’t like the work and it’s detailing your progress.
