Question About First 7 Day Water Fast

I hope I’m not breaking any rules, this is my first post in this sub. I’m a 5’9” 160lb female and I’m moderately active. I want to start a 7 day water fast mostly for mental clarity and reflection and honestly just to see how it makes me feel and if I can do it in the morning when I wake up. I’ve been lurking on this sub for about a month, the longest fast I’ve done is 48hrs. My questions are, is it feasible for me to fast for a full 7 days and also attend my fitness classes (body pump Mon/thurs and 60 min of spin weds) during an extended water fast? What’s everyone’s opinions on this? Or would it help me stick to this fast if I skipped the gym entirely next week? And for those of you who do extended fasts, is there anything you wish you knew before you started or learned along the way after you started doing them? I’m aware of all the electrolyte information and will be following those guidelines, but I’m interested on things that help others from a mental perspective.

Answer

The usual advice I hear on such a subject is to do what you normally do, but expect lower performance. It’s really based on how you feel. There are cautions of course. Dehydration can lower blood pressure to the point of passing out (been there).
