Question about Flax, Chia, and Hemp seeds.

I bought a package of Badia - Flax, Chia, and Hemp seeds.

My question is, are there any issues with eating these seeds as is? I read that eating flax seeds raw can be bad for you, but some sources say they are and some say they arnt.

Some say to grind them before eating them.

I’ve been just taking a spoonful or two and adding it to vegetable soup.

I’m mostly wanting to know if it’s an issue eating these seeds as is, or if I should be cooking them into the soup instead of adding them after. If I add them after cooking should I grind them or does it matter?

It doesn’t say on the package if the seeds are raw or not so I don’t know how to tell if they are. I’ll try and add a link here.

Thank you!

Answer

I put chia seeds in my food all the time with zero issues. I would recommend starting with a little bit 5-10g or so and work your way up.

The increased fibre may cause bloating if your body isn’t use to it.

Answer

Just be aware that flax seeds swell allot when soaked in water, so you want to do that before you eat them. You don’t want to eat what seems like a small amount of chia seed dry, and then have issues when they suck out all the liquids in the gut and swell up causing serious issues.
