Question about intermittent fasting and loose skin while losing weight

I’m in the process of losing 70 lbs, but when I read about the effects of intermittent fasting to prevent loose skin, it’s always in periods of 24, 36 hours or more. Would a daily fast of 16 hours have any impact on preventing loosing skin during the weight loss process?

Answer

I’m in the process is losing about 80 lbs as well and I’ve been using a vitamin A cream and doing some dry brushing (just google dry brushing) and it’s caused my stretch marks to fade and looks like it’s done some good for my skin.

Kinda what everyone else has said thought, don’t rush your weight loss and do strength training to fill it in and you’ll minimize it as much as you can without anything invasive.

Answer

My two cents, whether or not someone gets loose skin is ultimately down to a bunch of uncontrollable factors - where they store their fat, how much body % that fat is, how old they are, their specific skin elasticity, etc. Some folks say autophagy helps, but yes that really only kicks in on longer fasts.

Personally, I’d stick to more conventional wisdom. Don’t lose the weight too quickly. Build muscle to help fill in the fat loss. I’m down around 100 lbs from my highest and I’m not dealing with excessive loose skin.
