Question about keto after I reach my gw

Will I be able to go back to eating carbs and sugar after a short period of being on keto? I also want to clarify that if I were to reintroduce those foods, I would be eating in moderation and within a calorie deficit. So I believe that 3-5 months would be enough time for me to drop to my gw, but the problem is that I really hate keto lol. I’ve tried it once a long time ago and my carb and sugar cravings were so bad that I couldn’t last a week. And even if I could I really don’t want to give up carbs and sugar forever. However, I still have a lot of weight I want to lose, and I really want to do it as quickly as possible, so I think I can muster enough will-power for just a few months. Is there any way for me to gradually reintroduce carb and sugar back into my diet after keto without regaining the weight?

Answer

Depends whether you have a sugar addiction, and/or any underlying sensitivities to the carbs that will cause fat gain.

I went keto, lost a bunch of weight, went off keto, and ended up right back to my previous weight plus a little more.

But since you’re in the intermittent fasting sub, if you plan on sticking with TRE once you’re off keto, you probably have a better chance than you would if you were eating all the time.

Answer

In my experience, every time I or someone I know has done that, they gain the weight back when going back to a regular eating routine. I have seen and experienced great success in changing my lifestyle, rather then ‘dieting’. Letting yourself, in moderation, have complex carbs and eating whole (unprocessed) foods. This drastically reduces the cravings for sugar and empty carbs.
