Question about post-fast meal

Hello, I’m gearing up for my first fast (48-72 hours) and I have a question about that first meal after the fast. All the videos I’ve watched talk about how you should have a small meal at first and then a slightly bigger meal a few hours later….so when do I get to have a normal meal? I do OMAD and have for the past month, which has gone really well, and from what I gather it seems as though I wont be able to have my OMAD meal the day I break my fast. Is it as simple as a small meal followed by a medium meal a few hours later and then the NEXT day after I break my fast I can go back to normal?

I would love to hear about what you do personally and any tips you might have.

Answer

I broke my 18 day fast tonight with two eggs, sauerkraut and a slice of Swiss cheese. Had a handful of nuts a little later on. I have no issues no matter what I eat to break my fasts so long as I stay in ketosis. Some people break their fasts with fruit, or broth, but I’ve never had trouble eating again right away. I just listen to my body. After just a few days I wouldn’t stress too much about it.

Answer

Im doing rolling 72’s and doing one big meal refeed

I broke my fast today with ahalf of a leftover steak, then had 4 sushi rolls and fried tempura.

Ive done pho (go easy on the chili paste) and even a large papa murphys thin crust. Did not do anything special, just shoveled food in my mouth.

The term refeeding syndrome appears to be overused here.

Answer

The main thing in my experience is portion size. It really doesn’t seem to matter WHAT I break my fast with as long as it’s a small meal. Imo, small meal then a medium size meal a few hours later, followed by a normal meal 4-6 hours after that.
