A general question. In your journey have you ever noticed if you happened to have water retention after drinking the night before? Anything, whether it’s water or anything else. Could drinking more in the evening cause it in your experience?
If you’re someone who menstruates, anything and everything can cause water retention… what you eat, when you eat, what you drink, when you drink, what day in your cycle you’re at, whether or not the sun is shining or the grass is green etc. etc.
Kidding aside, there are so many variables when it comes to water retention and not enough research out there to fully explain it.
Short term fluctuations in weight are just that. Getting a scale daily is meaningless for this reason. Even weekly won’t tell you much other than give you a data point for a longer trend line to look at. I didn’t even own a scale for the first year of doing IF as I don’t believe it is really necessary at least in the way that most people use it.
