Question about what protocol is too much.

Im not new to fasting at all. Used OMAD to lose 55ibs, but I have 40ibs or so to go. I have been doing 18-20 hour fasts for the past week to get back into the swing of things. I have never done a fast for more than 24 hours and would like to try it out.

It has gotten a little more difficult to drop the weight since now since loosing so much weight. I have to eat way less and work out way more. But I have been at maintenance for the past 8 months or so and want to start fasting and losing weight again.

Would doing ADF every day combined with a 48 hour fast once a week be too much too soon. Or should I only do the 48 hour fast once every two weeks?

Im Male

5’11”/ 180.34

weight 231ibs(starting weight 287ibs)

my workouts are typically fairly high intensity focused and or playing sports such as soccer and basketball.

Answer

You should do whatever you can sustain. I did weekly 60hr fasts a few months ago and it worked pretty well but it took a lot of discipline. I did a few 84-96 hour fasts in the last few months and I liked the end result but will only do those periodically from now on. I’m experimenting now with ADF and I think this will be what I stick to for the foreseeable future. Bottom line is if you’re giving up and rebounding then whatever protocol you’re trying isn’t working for you.
