Question for weight loss.

Hi, I saw a video about intermittent fasting. I believe Dr. Fung siad he didn’t recommend a calorie deficit for weight loss and that fasting is better. He siad our metobolic rate adjusts when we are in a calorie deficit so we end up burning less calories. So my question is how is how is it possible to lose weight when not in a deficit? If I fast and don’t eat in a deficit how is it possible to loose weight ? I don’t want to go multiple days without eating. If I intermitten fast and eat in a deficit will my metabolism slow?

Answer

That article is great. Also our metabolic rate increases when we fast more. People who are “hungry” aka low insulin get more hormones that ignite processes that create extra heat in your brown fat stores as well as adrenaline and hgh. That also creates confusion with the cico model, but it’s still a good thing to be aware of. Energy is still a factor for sure.
