Answer

I’m eating one meal a day. It took me a few months to get to that point and it kind of just happened naturally over time as I saw progress and wanted to keep the momentum of my weight loss.

The first few weeks were tough and I would have frequent cravings, but I made it a habit of drinking a lot of tea to suppress my appetite. Now it just feels natural to me and on busy days my fast will go upwards of 30 hours.

I don’t calorie count, but I’m mindful that there’s a tendency to overeat after not eating for a full day. I try to be conscious to eat to the point of satiety and not overdo it. I’ve also included a lot of greens into my diet and cut down on rice quite a bit.

I take a general multivitamin along with vitamin D for the winter. No other supplements asides from the occasional protein shake for workouts.

Don’t really have a favourite meal. On weekends when I’m out with friends or family I try not to worry about eating junk and will eat whatever everyone’s having. I’ve had quite a few unhealthy weekends but have never had a week where I didn’t lose weight.

My weight loss has been a consistent 1-2 pounds per week for the past 5 months or so. Initially, it was probably closer to 2-3, but again, I’ve reached a new low every week since I started 9-10 months ago so I’m happy as long as I’m making progress.

My goal has changed over time as I made progress and became more ambitious. Initially it was to reach 220 pounds by the end of July (starting around 250 in February) - I was close to 200 by the time that came around. I then adjusted my goal to 190 and then 180. Now at 178 I’m going for 165 as what I hope to be my final goal. I try not to be overambitious with my goals and just ride the steady momentum.

Hope this helps a bit. If you have any other questions I’d be happy to try to clarify. Good luck. You got this!

I’ve been fasting for 23 hours a day for 2 years, but I did not start out that way or with any intention whatsoever to fast. I started with 3 weighed and tracked keto meals a day at a 20% sedentary deficit and a minimum of 1g protein per lb of lean body mass. I don’t use protein shakes, I just eat plenty of meat. By the 6 month mark keto had pushed my appetite to omad and I continued to weigh and track my food at the 20% sedentary deficit. It took me 20 months to lose 116lbs. I still fast for 23 hours a day just because that’s what my body wants to do. I now eat at maintenance calories and have been maintaining my fat loss for 10 months.

Omad to my knowledge is a 24 hour fast, no reason to give it another definition. I dont know who takes 4-6 hours to eat one meal lol. If omad was 4-6 eating window that would be 18/6 or 20/4

  1. I’ve been on omad for a week and a half. Previously my eating schedule was not very timely scheduled so it was easy for me to just start. I would get hungry but only for a short period since my body was kinda uses to it

  2. I kinda count calories only because I’m starting and just want to be able to eyeball my calories jn the future

  3. So far I don’t really need supplimental salts or electrolytes during the fast. I take in kind of a lot during my meals.

  4. I do omad and have done 33 hours and 53 hours of fasts in between.

  5. My favorite meals is whatever I’m craving that day lol. But for a quick meal I cut up some ribeye thinly then sear it and dip it into sesame oil with some salt (korean bbq style) and kimchi and dried seaweed. Really simple and flavorful dish.

  6. It’s been over a week since I started. 5’10” 33m sw:175 cw:170 —so I lost 5lbs so far with doing cardio and weight training. I’m definitely seeing and feeling the fat loss and muscle gains.

  7. Haven’t gotten to my goal weight yet but things seem to be on track in another 2 or 3 months.

What was it Like for you? It’s actually kind of convenient when I’m at work because I can focus on what I’m doing and don’t have to stop to eat lunch. It’s tough on the weekends because I want to eat with my wife and kids so I typically get a little more lax on the weekends.

Did you calorie count (even unintentionally)? No, one of the reasons I like OMAD is because it is a very simple. If I make it more complex it gets harder for me to maintain.

What vitamin/ salts/ electrolytes did you take in, if any? I take a multivitamin every day, take a shot of apple cider vinegar, drink coffee (not sure if that has electrolytes or not), and take some Vitamin D because one of my blood tests showed that I was a little low.

How long did you/ still 24hr fast everyday? I’ve been doing it for 3 months.

What were your favorite meals and why? I like meat because it tastes good and I also like to start my meal with a salad. This is all based on what I like to eat and has nothing specifically to do with the diet.

What was your weight lose like? In the first month I lost over 10 lb, the second month contained Thanksgiving, so it was more like 5 lb, and I’m down a couple already in December.

How long did it take to achieve whatever goal it was you wanted to meet? I am hoping for three more months (for a total of 6). I want to loose a total of 30 lb.

Answer

I’ve been true OMAD about 3 of the last 6 weeks of IF. Not sure how much weight I’ve lost in lbs, but I am down nearly 4 pants sizes. I take prenatal multivitamins but no electrolytes. Favorite meals are pizza, giant hearty vegetarian salads, and vegetarian tacos. I do have chocolate at the very end of each meal. I’ve done this for years and years as a cue that the meal has ended (and I love chocolate).
