Just wondering about any good vegan options for a refeed after 7 day fast. Got a vegan friend that wants to give it a go.
My go to after a longer fast is usually bone broth, don’t think she’ll go for that…
I am fasting at the moment, on day 6 of 7. I’m vegan. When I break my fast, I plan to have a Vega Sport protein shake first, then a salad with spinach, olive oil dressing, and lots of seeds: hemp, sunflower, pumpkin, with nutritional yeast.
You’re not supposed to eat too many calories when refeeding after an extended fast. Also not too heavy on the carbs. You want to avoid a big insulin spike.
I’m a big guy, so I could have up to 1000 calories the first day. Much smaller people might only need 350 calories the first day. Then gradually increase calorie intake, to avoid refeeding syndrome, etc.
If your friend has a blender, probably the simplest thing would be just a smoothie on the first day.
