Results after 20 days of alternate-day-fasting (ADF)

I completed eight 40+ hour fasts over the last twenty days. I was primarily eating every other day, the only exceptions were Fridays and Saturdays, I ate back-to-back on those days because of social events/obligations. I’ve also transitioned to eating almost exclusively at home, except for social events, which is a big change for me. I also started working out (light weight training for now), and lots of walking.

Stats: M/5’11/29

Starting weight: 373.0 lbs

Current weight: 342.8 lbs

Total loss: 30.2 lbs

Really happy with the results. I don’t feel any hunger or any serious cravings to be honest.

I think I’ll start setting a target of ten 40 hour fasts a month until I get to around 270, then I’ll begin to gradually decrease the number of 40+ hour fasts and eventually get to something like OMAD.

Next step is to begin a more serious weight training regiment.

Would greatly appreciate any feedback you guys can give on my plan. I have some concerns about things like too much muscle loss, or losing too much weight too fast.

Awesome results!! I just 91 days of ADF for A1C and IR as well as testing ldl-p changes with A1C , or at least sd-ldl numbers. It will take a few weeks for the NMR lipoprofile to be available. You should be very pleased with your incredible results.

Great results. This is the kind-of stuff I love seeing. What you did and doing is not only sustainable (as opposed to these long assed fasts that pop up here and there), but also inspirational to me as I’ve been trying to get 1 or 2 40 hr fasts in a week.

Congrats

but I think this method consumes a lot of muscle. It’s that first 36 hours that muscle is broken down so cycling like this seems like if would do it repeatedly. Just a thought. I can’t be sure.

Adf is so much more respected than long long fasts in my opinion (im currently on day 13/20 of my water fast and could NOT DO IT adf style) bc the first 24h of fasting is always super difficult.

Kudos to you!! I think in a few months you should try an extended fast, as clearly you can keep going through the pain of the first 24h w little issue!

Best part is after 3 days the pain goes away and youll burn a lot more than adf. Amazing job man. Either way keep doing you, you should be super proud!!
