Salt Levels and Creatine

How much salt and electrolytes are necessary when drinking 5L of water a day?

Does creatine effect electrolytes? Hydration? I want to find the sweet spot where I don’t feel thirsty or pee a lot.

Answer

I know creatine increases your water retention (it’s extremely hydrophilic, and this increased water retention is a main reason why your muscles will “grow” and look larger especially when starting creatine use).

5L of water is not excessive if you are consuming the nominally suggested amount of salt (based on a 2500cal diet) you find on the back of nutrition labels.
