Saw a post a while ago about someone taking prenatal vitamins while fasting

Just wondered who does this, and how they benefit from it. As well as any research you may have found. I’ve been looking for articles on the topic but haven’t really found the answer I’m looking for.

Asking because the vitamins powder I take now isn’t my favorite, and I think I’d very much prefer a simple pill to have that less than ideal vitamin powder taste in my tea twice a day

Additionally, if those reading this have other simpler ways to receive vitamins while fasting(ie ONE pill or a vitamin powder that doesn’t taste like anything) I’d be greatly appreciative

Answer

There’s no single formulation for prenatal vitamins in the US. The main thing you will find with them is 800mcg of folic acid/folate. The rest of the content varies widely. Some of them have very low doses of some vitamins and leave out some important minerals (some prenatals don’t even contain iodine).

You just need to read a lot of labels.

You will probably be able to find a single pill a day that covers your bases - prenatal or not - but you’ll need to read the labels.
