I’m wondering if any fellow ladies under or equal to 5’2 have experience fasting? I’m 4’11 and weigh the highest I’ve been in my entire life at around 130. I have something the 19th of January I want to be skinnier for. Is it possible if I were to water fast for a week or more, to get to 110-120 pounds?
This is something that I’ve been meaning to lose for awhile, as after college sports it went downhill. So any advice or fellow inspiration would be nice. :)
I think your height is irrelevant- as long as you’re an adult you can undertake fasting periods. If you’ve never done any fasting previously, it may be unwise to jump straight into a 5 day fast. Fasting is something that needs practise (like anything!) and it generally takes time to condition your body to fast for an extended period of time.
If you’re looking to slim down, I would suggest starting with 16:8 (fasting for 16 hours, with an eating window of 8 hours) and eating a keto diet (low carbs / no sugar) during the times you are eating. OMAD is another popular fasting regime, where you only eat one meal a day. Once you’ve gotten on track with those options you could look at increasing your fasting time incrementally. Going slowly will still give you a result and will feel more achievable. Plus, you’ll be able to congratulate yourself as you complete each fasting period! Positive reinforcement is very powerful.
Good luck with your journey!
Results vary tremendously but being petite and not particularly overweight means it may take longer. Some people lose a lot fasting. I dropped 2 lbs in a 3 day fast, and put 1 back on right away which was all water. I dropped 4 lbs in a 5 day modified (500 cal) fast and put 3 back in, etc. Instead of worrying about 20 lbs in two weeks, if you cut simple carbs and sugars you can probably drop a fair amount of bloat. Try IF, omad or a few shorter fasts to start.
You’ll lose weight from fasting. How quickly depends on a variety of factors but generally the more you have to lose, the more you lose per day. I’m 5’3 and weigh significantly more than you and I typically lose 2 pounds a day.
