Shortened cycle length due to fasting?

Hello ladies of r/xxfasting! I recently discovered this sub, and as soon as I saw the border color I knew it was for me. (I have a thing for purple.)

My apologies if this topic has been addressed before, but have any of you noticed a shift in the length of your cycle since beginning to fast?

Mine used to be quite irregular when I was younger. It straightened out for the most part in my mid-20’s to a longer-than-average 32 to 35 days. Since I began fasting last spring, it’s now 25 to 28 days in length.

I know we are not solely defined by our menstrual cycles, but it’s encouraging to see evidence that my body is regulating itself after so many years of instability.

Now if only my autoimmune issues, PCOS, etc. would follow suit!

Answer

I started fasting the end of October. My first cycle after was 17 days late and incredibly light. I was mostly doing alternate day fasting and a few 3-5 day fasts. The second cycle was even lighter and two weeks late. Hormones are adjusting.

Answer

There are reports saying fasting for women can throw off hormones and to do shorter fasting windows if this is an issue. The ones I read said some women can only fast up to 10-12 hours without side effects.
