Should I do IF again?

I did IF for a while but stopped after a plateau and then started calorie counting and working out. I got burnt out working out with a small baby so I just did calorie counting with moderate walking.

Now I just intuitively eat minimally. Some days I can eat very little and feel great. Other days (like today) I’m so hungry all day. Then some days I have no appetite but get very dizzy and weak and so I’ll eat anyway.

Would it be better to just continue what I’m doing or do IF for more consistency?

Answer

There are so many benefits to IF besides weight loss, so I say go for it! My energy levels are much higher which helps me keep up with my busy kids. I can sleep without needing Ambien. My mood is much happier. I will do this for life.

Short answer: Yes. Keep doing IF. Do it for the internal benefits not for weight loss. If you’re already at goal weight of healthy BMI, I doubt 16:8 will ignite more weight loss.

Imo 16:8 is maintenance level for everyone; you can probably stay the same weight, but overall feel better if you stay around 16:8 average 6 days of 7. Imo not insulting 16:8, & it’s a great way to ease into IF. I started that way too. But i think 18:6 or > is where the magic is. That said, for the obese friends in this sub, by all means, start w 16:8. If you need to lose 20% of your body weight it’s going to help with weight loss too.
