Should I just skip doing keto on ADF/48s?

I’ve been ADF for a few months and have maintained weight while gaining strength like crazy - eating without calorie counting and with carbs as much as I want. Strong and lightest I’ve ever been. It’s great!

However, recently, I’ve decided to drop some fat by cutting calories down to sub 1500 on eating days and eating high protein keto. Dropping weight really quickly, but I’ve gotten into keto flu and my sleep has taken a major hit. Yes on fasting nights during ADF with carbs I’d need less sleep, but the sleep quality was good and I’d least feel well rested in the morning. I’m constantly feeling like shit on this cut in the mornings after fasting days and I’m just considering adding like a bowl of rice or piece of bread or something to my meal to give me some carbs so I can sleep. Will this make a huge difference in the weight loss? I know I’ll probably get used to it the more I do keto, but I’m not really keen on making keto a lifestyle as I don’t see it as sustainable.

Answer

When doing keto you need to up your salts due to the lack of carbs. You need to actively drink snake juice or at least heavily salt your foods with real salt, not table salt.

If this doesn’t work then stick with what works and add in some additional cardio.

You lose weight almost the same whether you eat carbs or not. It only makes about 10% difference. You can eat carbs and do it anyway. Just eat in calorie deficit. Calorie deficit matters the most when losing weight. With experience, you can ditch carbs & get the extra 10% weight loss. (I prefer to do water fasting though. I started a 7 day fast.)
