Should you eat as if it's a normal day if you accidentally break your fast early?

I fast for weight loss reasons. I have a cold and was tired and dehydrated this morning so I drank a can of Coconut water and realized what I had done after. I know to restart tomorrow but for today would you suggest I pretend I didn’t drink it and still not eat for next 4 hours or start eating now and spread out my meals evenly in the remaining time?

Gauge your body. Especially when you’re sick, do what your body wants. I’m in the tail end of a cold too, and the first 2 days I wasn’t planning to fast but I didn’t want food so I didn’t have any. When you are sick, your body will tell you what it wants. Some people’s bodies want food for the extra energy to fight the sick, and some people’s bodies do not want food so it can focus on fighting not digesting. Getting well is the priority over losing weight.

That said, as a general rule of thumb regarding accidentally breaking fasts: idk how many calories coconut water is but most folks here seem to consider under 50 as not breaking a fast. There’s also a sub-group who subscribe to the “every other day” policy (from a book of that title?) where it’s suggested to eat 400 (women) - 500 (men) calories on fasting days. Given X00 calories still counts as fasting (to them), your coconut water should be fine.

If I accidentally did something like this (and I totally have lol), this is what I do. If it’s just one-off and surrounded by full fasting or eating days, I don’t worry about it and keep going. If it’s one in a string of low calorie days, I would break the fast and eat as much as I want. The reason for this is multiple low calories days in a row is bad for your body (I can explain this more if needed), but just one oops here and there isn’t a problem.

And my experience light fluids such as coconut water does not break the resting of your digestive system I would continue the fast.
