Should you est the apple peel

So I have heard that you should eat the peel of a apple, because most of the vitamines are in the or right under the peel. Is that right? Or is this just something parents tell their kids so that they dont want their apples to be peeled?

Answer

So the main thing with peels is they contain extra fiber (they tend to be tough to keep the fruit intact). They also will contain vitamins, but whatever vitamins a fruit offers are going to be on the inside as well. It is better to eat fruit and enjoy it, missing out on a little bit of fiber than to not eat the fruit because you don’t like the skin. That said, yes the peel contains nutrients and in most cases is good to consume.

Answer

Apple with skin contains more vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, and more potassium than a peeled apple. But it’s not like you are going to be missing out on any extra vitamins or nutrients by not eating the peel of the apple.

Answer

The skin contains a decent amount of fiber (~2 grams) which might not sound significant at first but it is when you take into account that women are only recommended 25 grams of fiber per day while men are recommended 38 grams.
