Skipping breakfast.

I’ve always thought it’s better to skip dinner and eat breakfast. I have this odd rule of only eating when the sun is up. Right now things have changed and I know I have to skip breakfast and eat dinner. I feel like I won’t see progress. Any encouragement from your personal experience/journeys?

Answer

just consider whichever “meal” you break your fast with, your “breakfast”. Remove the idea that “breakfast” is whatever you end up eating shortly after you wake up and associate with certain food types.

Why wouldn’t you see progress by shifting your window? That makes no sense. Also it’s much better to skip breakfast because you’re taking advantage of extending your deep fasted state during sleep into the morning instead of just eating right away.

Answer

you can try it. You can fast and eat whatever hours fit your lifestyle. If you wanna eat during sun up only then you would more than likely be eating from somewhere between 9am and 5pm, then fast throughout the evening. Give it a shot. If it works out for you, cool. If it dont, well you can adjust it to whatever hours work for you. You could also have an even shorter eating window if you choose to, like a fasting for 20 hours and eating for four hours. So eat from like 12pm to 4pm and then be fasting until 12pm the next day. Just giving examples here. Hope you find what works for you.

For me, breakfast is the easiest meal to skip for so a number of reasons! Off the top of my head:

a) Dinner wasn’t toooo far into the past, so I’m not really all that hungry in the mornings.

b) The caffeine kick that I usually get from drinking tea all morning suppresses my appetite pretty well. Plus, it forces me to hydrate hydrate hydrate!

c) Lunch and dinner time (especially dinner time) are more likely to be social events than breakfast time is, so you don’t have to sacrifice your ability to properly IF. I really value my social time, because I’ve realized it’s just good my mental health. I love to eat dinner with people, even if it means I’m just nibbling on something smol next to my partner while he’s eating dinner!
