Snacking at night

I’ve tried IF for 16 hours from 6.30pm to 10.30am the following day.

In the best case scenario, I sleep with my daughter by 8.30pm, wake up the next day, have a black coffee at 7.30 am and break the fast at 10.30am.

If I don’t end up falling asleep, I’ll get hunger pangs by 10pm or even earlier. I am a life long snacker and it doesn’t help with IF.

What do you guys suggest to supress hunger pangs or should I move my fasting time?

What I found is the more I did IF the easier it became to ignore the feeling of hunger. You’ve trained your body to expect food at a certain time. You need to re-train your body to not expect food during that time. It can be hard but it does get easier.

I’m the same. Do you get hungry in the morning?

Instead of 6:30PM to 10:30AM, mine is 10PM to 2PM.

I simply don’t get hungry in the morning. I get up at 9AM and just have zero appetite until lunch time.

Answer

I don’t think the hunger pangs are the problem…let’s face it, a mosquito bite is more annoying then hunger pangs….its the habit that’s tough to break…so substitute with a healthy habit…whenever you feel the desire to snack, force yourself to do something you don’t like….you will quickly break the habit 🙂

For me, it was about getting use to being a little hungry. All the time. A drag to be sure however, it was temporary. Less than a couple of weeks. On the other side of it, being a little hungry all the time is replaced by, I kid you not…having to remember to eat.

That and having to shop clothes that don’t look over-sized and sloppy on you.
