Snake diet update: Always sleepy

So I started the snake diet a few days ago. I’m always sleepy. So can I take 0 calorie energy drinks or caffeine?

Also can I take protein shakes? Because I train heavy with eccentric loads and without the extra protein I get extremely sore.

Cole doesn’t promote coffee, and I only mention that because this is r/snakediet and not r/fasting, but you will find many people who fast and still consume black coffee or diet soda. Is it ideal? No, caffeine is a diuretic and will make it harder for you to stay hydrated, and diet soda or zero calorie flavored beverages have artificial sweeteners that may potentially stimulate insulin and hunger. Have I ever fasted with the above items? Yah, pretty much every time I fast my routine black coffee and the occasional diet soda is still a thing. It can make it a little “easier” mentally when the fasts get tough. As far as anything with an actual calorie content, such as a protein shake, those types of things would break your fast because they would most certainly effect your insulin and generate a blood sugar response. In theory If you were fat adapted from being Keto for a long enough period of time, you could have something like less than 500 calories of pure fat as an additional energy source on hard workout days and still be pretty close to mimicking a fast, but it’s definitely not the snake diet way cole promotes.
