So grossed out by ads trying to make fasting seem complicated!

Hey, everyone! Hope you’re okay with me venting a tiny bit.

Is anyone else’s social media just flooded with banner ads that pretend fasting is a complicated venture that needs to be divided up by fat distribution or age? I can’t escape them! It feels like the hucksters are desperate to figure out a way they can sell “just don’t eat,” and have decided to try for pretending complicated schedules and plans are the way forward. Terrible stuff.

Answer

I feel that way about a lot of the health/diet world. take something simple and then complicate it to make it easier to sell. whether its selling apps, or books, or courses, or coaching lessons, or devices.

Some people might benefit from that sort of a thing, where some monetary investment is helpful to have them feel… invested. some more skin in the game in a way.

Occasionally i’ll see things about checking one’s ketones while fasted to make sure one is in “deep ketosis”. and then other things trying to sell ketone supplements, when your body will make its own on demand. just money grabs that discourages people from something that is very simple.

Answer

I’ve seen very few diet marketers promote Fasting. Only one I can think of is the Book by Dr. Fung and Nusalt. Fasting is really hard to monetize for the fitness industry compared to other diet methods.
