So I had my longest fast yet at about 32 hours which I decided to do since I was feeling good.

I have been doing 18-20 hours the last few weeks but often felt weak and tired by that time. yesterday though I felt fine so decided to push it. At about 32 hours, I had a few highs and lows of energy, mainly highs. I thought I wouldn’t sleep, so I said I would break the fast before bed. I did so and slept very little anyway b, but my dreams were the most vivid they have ever been in my entire life when I did sleep I wake up now with maybe 4 hours of sleep with loads of these dreams and don’t feel tired. is this normal when fasting?

Answer

It happens. Your body is used to set schedules and routines. The spontaneity of your feeding probably affected your sleep.

I think once you settle into a more consistent state, your body will adapt and know how to manage from there

Answer

I have heard that the trouble with sleep during extended fasts comes from a time when we were foraging for food in the wild. Many animals will sleep less if they’re in a fasted state because they need more time to look for food to survive.
