It’s been 2 days, without any snacks I just drink water. Will this subside and my body will eventually get used to it?
You will get used to it if you cut the junk and persevere. Sugar and carbs are addictive, it makes sense to crave them, your body telling you it’s hungry after a short time could well be withdrawal.
Try raising protein and cutting carbohydrates, even healthy ones, for a while & see if it helps
The thing about jumping into IF headfirst is that, “You WILL feel the effects very strongly if your eating habits have been poor”! The key to sustainability with IF, is building better habits over time. If you’re reaching the point that you feel you may breakdown and binge, stop what you’re doing and backtrack. You may be moving too fast and you need to re-stratigize your plan of execution.
For example, if you’re used to having 4-5 snacks a day, set a goal of 2 snacks per day. And, try to make one of them healthy. If you’re used to soda, switch to a sweetened flavored sparkling water (i.e. ICE). And, up your water intake gradually. When you break your fast, you also need to ease away from high carb/sugar meals. If you’re eating twice in your window, have a meal you’d really like (moderation, is key) and make the 2nd one healthier.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. When you go too extreme, too fast (if you’re not completely ready for a lifestyle change), you may fall back into old habits. Take it one day at a time. Go back to the drawing board. Figure out what you can cut out (that you know is bad) and start there. Best wishes!
