How much sodium do you consume?
MyFitnessPal App tells me I should stay below 2.300mg but I found a study that shows people consuming 5.000mg have better heart healthy?
What is your take on this?
Requirements vary with each person. Generally, you just want to ‘salt to taste’. Increase if you are more physically active. The ideal amount for the general population is around 2.5g\~5g.
Certain processed foods, pickled items, and whatnot can have ridiculously high amounts of salt, and that should carefully be taken note of with your total intake, as an excess chronic consumption of salt can develop into Hpylori and/or stomach cancer.
Very low or no salt intake is also detrimental.
I do around 6-8 grams per day. And around 5g potassium. I sweat and workout alot tho. But i find the more sodium i take in the better i perform (as long as the ratio between sodium:potassium is around 1:1) :-)

A lot of the issue with heart/bone/kidney health and salt intake is also about the ancillary nutrients absorbed.
People who intake a larger amount of sodium may also be getting things like potassium, calcium, and various vitamins associated with high sodium foods, which people on low sodium diets are accidentally lacking. It’s not always directly causal.
