Somebody, please tell me what I'm doing wrong

So let me start off with some backstory in August 2021 I was at my record high 244 pounds then I started my IF journey. By December 2021 I was at my record low 211 pounds. Then came the holidays and the Super Bowl and I was creeping up to 220 pounds. By March 2022 the depression along with binge eating in the nighttime and I was up to 232. I’ve started back to being consistent with IF and exercising since September since I have a wedding to go to in November. SInce then I’m still around the 230 range and can’t get the weight to go down. My regular fasting routine is 18/6 and 20/4 during the weekends. Everyday going on the scale to track my progress is frustrating and makes me want to quit. I was diagnosed with a low functioning thyroid and I don’t want to put the blame on that. So if anybody could tell me what I’m doing wrong I would gladly appreciate it.

The low functioning thyroid is kind of a big thing to want to just ignore in this. I’ve had moderately high prolactin levels for years due to a pituitary issue, and getting that hormone normalized has made a massive difference. I know people like to rag on the idea that everyone has some special “problem,” versus just eating too much and/or exercising too little, but when there is an actual diagnosable condition, that deserves attention. Presumably it is true that if you’re not losing fat, you’re not in a calorie deficit, and even IF can’t fix that, but the question of why you’re not in a deficit really might have a lot to do with that thyroid issue.

In reading the other comments, I agree with the people saying the low functioning thyroid thing is a big deal. I have hypothyroidism and I could not lose weight until I got on the proper meds for it. You’ll be fighting your body every step of the way until you get that shit in check - believe me.
