So I forgot my lunch last week for work. I decided I’ll just eat when I got home from work, and that ended up blowing out to 24 hours without food. I had 3 coffees with a 1/4 tsp of sugar and about 1/8 cup of full cream milk. That’s how I usually make it.
I suprised myself how easy that was. So I “forgot” my lunch on Tuesday, and the result was the same, with my 3 coffees, I didn’t eat again until dinner time.
I did that Monday - Thursday and picked it up again this week.
Yesterday (Tuesday) was a blow out. Today I’m back at it and feeling really strong. No sugar in my coffees today, but the same amount of milk.
Next week I’ll look for a milk replacement that’s suitable and keep to no sugar in my coffees.
I know that technically I’m breaking my fast by having coffee with a bit of sugar, but I’m amazed that I can go 24 hours without a meal without becoming a cranky bear. I find it so much easier without an app counting me down. I would struggle to make 16 hours with an app.
Next week I’ll make an effort to have no sugar and either a suitable milk replacement, or no milk at all and get some 23 hour fasts under my belt.
Regarding milk replacement, I was watching Dr. Pradip Jamnadas who recommended coconut or MCT oil to provide some satiation. This is not recommended for a water fast, as any food will increase insulin levels, but it is a good place to start.
I was trying several diets back to back about 3 years ago, got burnt out, then forgot to eat. Same thing. Realized how easy it can be with some kind of precursor. I hope you reach whatever goals you have, fasting or not
