Soy products “messing with hormones”

Hi. Could anyone provide any insight about this? From what I’ve read, soy does not affect hormones, but this is still something I hear often. Any input is appreciated :) especially if you can refer me to any studies on the subject. Thank you!

Answer

It doesn’t effect hormones. It can give you really bad gas though only reason I won’t consume soy products lol.

Soy milk is basically the only thing that gives me nasty gas that I know of and it’s terrible.

Answer

Soy is definitely not an ideal food for humans or animals. Our ancestors used the soy crop to increase nitrogen in soil, they didn’t cultivate it for food. Not to mention 90% of soy produced nowadays has been genetically modified to resist the toxic chemicals they spray all over them.

Soy is high in phytic acid which blocks absorption of some minerals , trypsin inhibitors which interfere with protein digestion , and phytoestrogens which disrupt endocrine function.

If you don’t change anything in your diet or fitness regime and increase your intake of soy I can promise you 100% your testosterone will drop due to the endocrine disrupting effect soy has on the body. Test it out for yourself. You will absolutely thrive and be far more healthy if you eliminate soy from your diet.

Answer

The challenge is that soy is often consumed with animal protein. This can lead to your hormones going out of whack. If consumed as part of a less-processed plant based meal, preferably non-gmo and organic (if organic, it’s non-gmo by default) you get to reap the benefits of soy.
However, if your body is not used to digesting soy, you may want to introduce it in stages.
Trader Joes has a great organic ‘sprouted’ tofu that can be digested more easily than regular tofu.
