Question: everybody say that you need stale bread to make perfect french toast, but according to the USDA you can’t leave food out more than two hours. So how can I stale my bread safely ?I’ve seen some people putting It in the oven ,I tried but the result wasn’t the same
The whole “not leaving food out longer than 2 hours” isn’t so much applied to bakery items like bread. That’s why there are bread boxes for the counter.
That being said, I don’t have the time to wait for my bread to stale when I get the hankering for French toast. Also, my bread is kept in the freezer, since a loaf will last me a month or two with the rate I go through it. I just pop the slices in the toaster at the lightest setting. Then I dip in beaten egg with vanilla and pan fry.
10/10 French toast for me, whenever I desire it.
