Starting Again

Hey guys, I could really do with some encouraging words and am mostly just posting this for my own accountability. I’ve attempted IF a few times. The first time doing 18:6 before lockdown with great success in terms of health benefits. However I’ve found my downfall has always been that I’ve got an all or nothing attitude when it comes to dieting, and it all falls apart when my life doesn’t fit around my diet.

I’m currently at my highest ever weight, and I just don’t feel healthy, I have sciatica and just constant inflammation in my body. I’m only 30, I don’t want to live my life in pain. I get embarrassingly out of breath going up hills. I used to feel full of energy, I played roller derby at a highly competitively level and now my knee pads don’t even fit me.

I’m now taking this slower, I’m starting today with just a 12 hour fast, I’m trying to accept that not every day has to have the same fasting window and allow myself flexibility.

Great. Just don’t eat after dinner. Every day. There’s no need , and you can convince yourself of that and build willpower from there. You’re gonna get hungry but it won’t be real. It will be habit hungry and carb begging hungry.

Just don’t eat.

So, if you’re “all or nothing” fasting might seem like a good idea since it’s an “all or nothing” approach. Maybe you should try something else. I’m on the best streak of my life wrt dieting, and my the main difference is that I picked up a daily exercise Routine and just did caloric deficit. I track the hell out of my calories and exercise. I still occasionally fast, but only when I hit plateaus and want to break through my current floor. Good luck!

Fasting is great. I love being in control. I love the clarity I feel during the day. I love the energy and not feeling sluggish because I ate a big lunch but at the end of the day you don’t need to fast at all if your main goal is losing weight or even health.

So changing your window to suit your life is not as big deal as keeping your calories in check and exercising.

Answer

Great, good luck for your journey.

You can start with gentle exercises such as walking, cycling, and jumping rope. They are very effective. Also, try to get enough sleep and avoid stress as much as possible. The most important thing is to have a suitable diet plan. I am also overweight and don’t have much time for exercise, so I can only jump rope for about 30 minutes a day. In addition, I found a suitable diet plan for myself. Then I found this girl on Fiverr. She helped me build a suitable diet plan. Since I started following it, I have lost 4kg in 2 months.
