Starting IF: should I be doing a 12:12 fasting?

Hey folks.

I went to my psychiatrist this week, and he told me he’s doing a specialisation degree in nutrology. He told me that, since I started taking a new medicine for my ADHD (that inhibits appetite as an “adverse effect”), I should try my hand on IF, and recommended me a 12:12 IF to start (one meal at 7AM and one meal at 7PM, two meals a day total).

After reading the FAQ here on this subreddit, it apparently isn’t a popular choice, and I wanted to know why. Is this effective? Should I be doing this?

Answer

Longer fasts reportedly have more benefits. But any form of IF can be beneficial, the most important thing is whether it’s a good fit with your lifestyle. So why not give it a go, even if it’s an uncommon schedule.
