Starting OMAD with Hypothiroidism treated

Hi there,

As said in the title, I have hypothyroidism and I am on T4 + T3 treatment every morning

It’s been 3 days since I started OMAD, not in order to lose weight, but to make myself a bigger meal in the evening without having to count.

However, since I started I’m colder than usual and more tired if I don’t move, I saw that the body had to adapt so it didn’t worry me too much, until I came across a study done on people doing Ramadan, which indicated that the T3 dropped slightly.

I really want to continue OMAD, maybe it’s normal and the body adapts little by little, but it worries me all the same haha

Thank you for your answers and sorry for the translation I do not speak English well.

Answer

I have hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, and honestly if I were you I’d just dress warmer. If the lack of energy starts affecting your daily life or exercise goals then eat more or expand your eating window.

People on Reddit aren’t really qualified to discuss the implications of this way of eating relative to complex thyroid disorders. I’d recommend speaking with one or more endocrinologists about why you’re interested in OMAD and what the potential implications are with your hyperthyroidism.
