Sticky dark poo during prolonged fasting

So currently I‘m on day 20 of a 24 day water fast. As expected I haven’t been to the toilet for a while now. Since I went slightly overboard with salt at around day 10 I got some awful diarrhea back than and I expected that everything must have left my body.

However, to my surprise I had to poop a couple days ago and today again. It wasn’t diarrhea but it wasn’t exactly solid either. The color was a extremely dark brown, borderline black. The consistency was also very oily, kinda like warm butter and my toilet bowl got destroyed too. I literally couldn’t flush it down since it was so sticky and even brushing it down was quite an effort. The quantity wasn’t exactly low either but not as much as when I eat regularly.

I felt like I was literally pooping out pure fat. The thing is tho, I read that this isn’t possible since the body usually gets rid of fat via breathing and pee. So what was that all about?

Btw. I do only consume water, coffee and tea. First I thought it could have been some leftovers from the coffee, but the quantity just doesn’t add up.

Answer

You can definitely poop out fat (steatorrhea). It’s usually pale or oily and tends to float. What you had sounds more like a sign of possible bleeding in your gi tract. You might want to ask your doctor about it.
