Stomach burns

Hi everyone. I started my journey a week ago and I am hesitant to carry on. On day two my stomach started to burn. I am getting mild reflux but this isn’t an entirely new effect, I have felt this previous to IF, however, the stomach burning is new. I can feel almost an emptiness in the middle of my stomach. It’s an odd sensation to explain. Today I am feeling bloated, but I have been seeing great results and doing want to stop 16:8 but I’m unsure if the burning is going to cause problems. Any suggestions?

Edited to add that I’ve been drinking ginger tea and apple cider vinegar to try and help the problem

Answer

I would think ginger tea and cider vinegar would make it worse. Sounds like you’ve got too much acid going on. Are you drinking enough water? If you have a large glass when you first wake up and then one every couple of hours you can get your 2-3 litres in.

I’m a 46 year old male 6’ weighing 250. I’d like to lose about 20 pounds and I’ve been doing the IF for about a week at 14:10. I do take metoclopramide and pantoprazole for my stomach acid since I had my gall bladder out a few years ago. I’ve noticed moodiness and lots of hunger…..I believe the meds are keeping the acid reflux under control. I’d suggest maybe buying over the counter Nexium.

Some omeprazole (Prilosec or generic version) might help. I had some crazy bad heart burn/ reflux nearly every night before and at the beginning of my weight loss. It’s cleared up quite a bit with only occasional issue. It’s something you can get at a higher dose from your dr. Or can buy it where you find tums. I got the higher dose from my dr. (It’s just double the 1 Prilosec pill) And then was able to work down to the otc size. But if you are unsure or concerned you can always ask your dr. About it. It takes a couple of days to fully kick in. To also note I am on the lighter side of fasting doing 12:12 to 13:11 and 14:10 depending on the day but I’m slowly working towards 14:10. I hope this helps and you get some relief and can keep fasting!
